National Animal Industry Foundation

History

Founded on January 1st, 2000 in accordance with the provisions of Article 25 of the Livestock Act, Article 3 of the Civil Code and related regulations governing non-profit organizations of the agricultural sector, the National Animal Industry Foundation (NAIF) has a legally defined mission of regulating animal industry production and marketing activities. The NAIF is the first agricultural non-profit organization whose establishment was officially approved by the Legislative Yuan of R.O.C. . It combines the functions of the Taiwan Meat Development Foundation, the Poultry Development Foundation, and the Swine Improvement Foundation of Taiwan. The NAIF, like the Agriculture and Livestock Industries Corporation of Japan (ALIC), uses early-warning systems and adjusts animal production to balance supply and demand. Under the oversight of Ministry of Agriculture, it also serves as a bridge between the government and the animal industry, and strives to promote the sustainable development of the animal industry in Taiwan.
